Find Your Way Back to You.

A Gentle Guide for Women who have spent so long looking after everyone else.

By Sam Richardson

Welcome.

If you're reading this, there's a good chance you've spent years being everything to everyone else.

The dependable one.

The caring one.

The strong one.

The one who keeps going.

And somewhere along the way, you quietly stopped paying attention to yourself.

If this sounds familiar, I want you to know you're not alone.

This guide isn't about changing your life overnight. It's simply five gentle invitations to help you reconnect with yourself, one small step at a time.

Because you matter too. ♡

My Story.

One day I found myself sitting alone in my flat in London, recovering from a hysterectomy after years of living with chronic pain caused by endometriosis. I remember looking around and thinking, "How did I get here?"

Life had quietly carried me somewhere I never imagined.

I'd been born in Wales, grown up in Yorkshire and spent much of my adult life living on beautiful islands overseas.

Yet somehow I found myself exhausted, living alone in a busy city and feeling completely disconnected from the life I'd imagined for myself.

Recovery forced me to stop. For the first time in years, I couldn't keep pushing through. My body had made the decision for me.

As life slowed down, I found myself asking questions I'd never really asked before.

Am I living as my true self?

Am I living the life I once imagined?

Or have I spent so long looking after everyone else that I've forgotten about myself?

Looking back now, I realise that season wasn't the end of something. It was the beginning.

I didn't become someone new. I simply began uncovering the woman who had been there all along.

That journey eventually became The Back to YouMethod, because I know how easy it is to lose yourself while taking care of everyone else. And I also know it's possible to find your way back!

Invitation One.

Pause Before You Push forward.

For many years, my answer to life's challenges was simple.

  • Keep going.

  • Stay busy.

  • Push through.

The trouble is, clarity rarely arrives when we're constantly rushing. Sometimes the bravest thing we can do isn't to keep moving. It's to pause. Today, before you do anything else, ask yourself one question:

What do I need today?

Not tomorrow. Not next week.Today!

Perhaps the answer is rest. Fresh air. Time alone. A walk. A conversation. Permission to say no.

Whatever it is, trust that your answer matters.

A moment for you.

Today, I need…………. (Today I need to create time in my day to be outdoors).

Invitation Two.

Become Curious About Your Inner Voice.

We all have an inner voice. Sometimes it encourages us. Sometimes it quietly tells us we're not enough.

"I'm letting people down."

"I should be coping better."

"I'll look after myself later."

What if these thoughts weren't facts? What if they were simply beliefs you'd been carrying for years?

One of the biggest shifts we can make is moving from self-criticism to self-curiosity.

Instead of asking, "What's wrong with me?"

Try asking, "Where did this belief come from?"

Curiosity creates space. And space creates change.

A moment for you.

The one belief I'd like to question.…….(The belief I would like to questions is: that being on camera is scary!)

Invitation Three.

Listen to What Your Body Has Been Trying to Tell You.

Our minds and bodies are always communicating. Long before I slowed down, my body had been trying to get my attention.

  • The exhaustion.

  • The tension.

  • The pain.

Looking back, I realise it wasn't working against me. It was trying to protect me.

Perhaps your body has been whispering too.

  • Maybe it's asking for rest.

  • Maybe it's asking for boundaries.

  • Maybe it's asking you to slow down.

  • Instead of fighting it, simply listen.

A moment for you.

What has my body been trying to tell me?……(My body has been telling me: drink more water!)

Invitation Four.

Remember the Woman Beneath the Roles.

Who are you... Beyond your job? Beyond being a partner? A mum? A daughter? The dependable friend?

Before life became so busy, what made you feel most alive?

What brought you joy simply because it was part of who you are? Perhaps it's still there. Waiting patiently. Not lost. Just waiting to be noticed again.

This week, choose one small thing that feels like you. Not because it's productive. Because it reminds you who you are.

A moment for you.

Something I'd love to welcome back into my life is.………..(I would love to welcome: photography - when at art college, it was my favourite thing to do!)

Invitation Five.

Choose Yourself, One Small Step at a Time.

One of the greatest lessons I've learned is this -Looking after yourself isn't selfish. It's an act of self-respect.

Choosing yourself doesn't always look dramatic. Sometimes it's saying no. Sometimes it's asking for help. Sometimes it's resting without feeling guilty.

Small choices made consistently create lasting change. You don't need to transform your life this week. You only need to take one gentle step. Then another.

A moment for you.

One promise I'll make to myself this week is………….(My promise would be: listen to your intuition more!).

Before You Go.

If you've reached the end of this guide, I hope you'll remember one thing.

You haven't lost yourself. Life simply became busy. Responsibilities grew. People needed you.

And somewhere along the way, you stopped giving yourself the same care you so freely gave to everyone else.

But it's never too late to come home to yourself.

Not through one giant leap. But through hundreds of small moments.

One pause.

One boundary.

One conversation.

One decision.

One gentle step at a time.

Let's Stay Connected.

I created The Back to You Letter because I know how easy it is to lose sight of yourself again once life gets busy.

Each month, I'll send you a gentle letter filled with thoughtful reflections, practical tools and simple reminders to help you stay connected to yourself.

No overwhelm. No pressure.

Just a little encouragement to pause, breathe and remember that you matter too.

And whenever the time feels right, I'd love to welcome you into The Back to You Method, where together we can explore your story more deeply and help you reconnect with the woman you've always been.

Until then... Be gentle with yourself.

You don't have to have everything figured out. You simply have to keep taking one small step at a time.

With warmth,

Sam x
